The film and video gaming industries in America is also another avenue that contributes to this societal problem as this industry has painted gun violence as a heritage for the American population. With this essay will delve into some of the national and local resources that exist concerning gun control both nationally and locally with an aim on their effectiveness and failure. As it has emerged, gun ownership serves as a portion of the gun control issue, but it is a matter of relevance in combating gun violence. Ideally, many federal states do not allow the legal sale of guns to under age children, which is policy that cuts across many jurisdictions. On the contrary, the fourteenth amendment is also a fundamental area that allows citizens to acquire licensed firearms for self-protection making it possible for innocent civilians to take charge of their safety. Therefore, this has helped promote equality for the minority groups residing in America because America has developed into a multicultural society. This means that gun ownership does not have restriction to a particular race as it used to be in the colonial days. On the other hand, the policies that exist regarding gun ownership also create a loophole making them subject to review. For instance, the creation of the background checks system in 1993 was one whose intention was to ensure that those that acquire guns are law-abiding citizens and not prior offenders (Guns and Crime 2012).
